Home For The Orphans

Namanga Islamic Centre is an orphanage in Namanga, a small town in Kajiado County, at the border between Kenya and Tanzania.

Inspired by our brothers support from Qatar, when several of them give whatever they have to help orphans here in Kenya and other very poor countries. One is truly shocked by many orphans’ living conditions. Many of these heartbreaking scenes involve vulnerable orphans falling into despair.

Children as young as six who are supposed to be in schools and madrasa, but sadly here they have no hope for a future. Many turn to drugs, sniffing glue as a means of forgetting, even if temporarily, the horror that their lives have turned out to be.

Others are exposed to violence, forced to carry lethal weapons and are groomed into becoming child robbers. The ‘lucky ones’ are those who are looked after by their relatives yet they still suffer extreme poverty.

Family & Shelter

We have five rooms which have been converted into dormitories, each housing at most 20 children. The centre is fully staffed with a team of 12. 1 chef, 4 cleaners, 2 security guards, 3 Quran teachers, 1 manager and 1 boarding master.

Health & Wellness

We are able to deworm the children at least every 3 months. They are also taken to a medical doctor when ill. We make sure they take their medication as prescribed. We offer them social and mental health support to empower them.

Education

We are at 100% school enrollment, for both secular and Islamic studies. A conducive environment, surrounded by skilled teachers from whom they gain a lot of knowledge. They also memorize the Holy Qur'an. There is also safety and security.

The Nobel Causes

The Prophet, (May Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him), made this great promise to orphan sponsors, “I and the one who sponsors an orphan shall be in Paradise like these two” — and he raised his index finger and the one next to it, holding them together, barely separate” (Bukhari).

That means Allah will admit a believing person who sponsors an orphan into His highest Garden in close company with the Prophet, on him be peace.

Please support us in helping these orphans and may Allah accept all our good deeds towards the orphans and admit us into Paradise. Aameen.
